Workshop Highlights and Features
Join Don Smith, Pierre Steenberg and Henning de Beer as they share the key wildlife locations of Botswana along with Victoria Falls - one of the Seven Wonders of the World.. The emphasis of this workshop is Safari photography! As a bonus, we will also photograph the world-famous Vitoria Falls.
Pierre is a former resident of South Africa and has been on numerous photography trips to both Namibia and Botswana.
We are also teaming with local tour operator and professional wildlife photographer, Henning de Beer, who intimately knows all of the areas we will be photographing on this once-in-a-lifetime tour.
De Beer's images have garnered many international awards and sales.
We will begin the Workshop at Victoria Falls spending the first couple of days photographing this amazing mile-and-a-quarter waterfall. We will have two days to cover this area along with guided tours if so desired.
We will also offer two opportunities for wildlife photography while at the falls. This will include shooting from blinds as animals approach, and also a sunset cruise where we can shoot both landscape and wildlife at the golden hour through dusk.
Our group will then spend 4 nights near the Chobe River in Botswana where we will have access to specially designed safari boats, complete with fixed swivel arms attached to the boat, ballheads and swivel seats that will allow you to photograph from the Chobe River back towards the banks as the animals come to drink - yes - the animals will come to us and guarantee face to face contact!
This also allows us to be out in the prime light of dawn/sunrise and sunset/dusk - this will be one awesome experience!
We then charter a flight (included in your fee) to the Savute River Lodge in Botswana where we will photograph for another couple of days from safari vehicles. This area is famous for the Okavango Delta.
We are also offering photographing from Mokoro Boats - essentially a hollowed-out tree guided by a seasoned-boatman who can steer you to wherever you wish - essentially the animals as they come to drink or perhaps a cool landscape scene!
This workshop has an emphasis on location shooting but we will add classes during the day where applicable. We then have another transfer flight (also included in your fee) from our final camp in Savute to Maun where we will fly home.
