Brooks & Dunn and Reba - San Jose Arena - Circa 1995

I photographed Brooks and Dunn some 25 years ago shortly after San Jose Arena was open. Hidden behind Ronnie Dunn was Reba McIntyre. I was instructed to "get a shot of the three of them together." However, it never really worked out as this contraption that is used to raise and lower the scoreboard descended from the rafters and as the three of them hit the stage - they went in three separate directions. Generally at concerts photographers are limited to three songs so I never had another opportunity.

Ronnie Dunn - Brooks and Dunn - San Jose Arena - Circa 1995

Back in the mid-90's I photographed Brooks and Dunn with Reba McIntyre at San Jose Arena. The Arena opened on September 7, 1993. Little did I know that Ronnie and my paths would cross again in 2019. Turns out that RD and my good friend and former Sports Illustrated staff photographer, Ron Modra, were best of friends and did lots of photography shoots together. Ron Modra (I know a lot of Ron's) has been co-teaching landscape workshops with me for the past three years. This past year Ronnie Dunn joined us on my annual Grand Teton Photo Workshop and Beri and I got to know him as he spent week with us. Not only is RD a talented singer and songwriter but he is also an avid and talented photographer. Check out his and Ron's work at: http://www.lensmenproject.com. Reba McIntyre - San Jose Arena - Circa 1995

I have always been a huge Reba McIntyre fan and finally got the opportunity to photograph her as she came through San Jose with Brooks and Dunn in the mid-90's. As we all stood backstage, she struck up a conversation with me and we ended up talking about each other's kids. Hers and mine are all adults now - where does time fly? I met with Reba, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn once again in December 2019 at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. My good buddy and fellow landscape instructor Ron Modra is friends with all of them and photographs many of their shows. All three of them look fantastic today - they have all aged well and are still performing.
