Cancellation and Transfer Policy


Sometimes circumstances beyond our control force us to alter our plans. Don Smith Photography cannot be held responsible for any unanticipated circumstances (such as natural disasters, park closures, inability to access locations, weather, pandemics, etc.) that either prevents you from attending or from us altering our location shoots. I will do my best to work around any unforeseen circumstances. TRAVEL INSURANCE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR PERSONAL AGENT.

Registration Fee

Full payment is due at registration. If you are unable to pay the entire amount, please contact me and I can work with you. Because each registration requires a certain amount of work and planning, your workshop payment includes a non-refundable $150.00 registration fee on domestic workshops.

On International Workshops - deposits are non-refundable.

Again - we highly recommend Travel Insurance and Medical Insurance when traveling Internationally.

Workshop payment refund

Your domestic workshop payment, minus the registration fee ($150.00),  will be refunded if you cancel outside of 91 days prior to the workshop.

For International Workshops, deposits are non-refundable.

For International Workshops: We can no longer allow you to transfer to another workshop - it has become too costly for us to make those changes and is hard to do working with properties in foreign countries.

AS FOR COVID-DELAYED WORKSHOPS (NEW ZEALAND 2022, SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS 2022, PATAGONIA 2022, MONUMENT VALLEY 2022  AND ICELAND 2023), there will be zero refunds. Our hotels and tour groups were paid prior to the Covid Pandemic and have raised our expenses significantly. We have held firm that we are not passing these costs on to our clients.

For Non-Covid Delayed Workshops: No refund will be issued if you cancel 61-90 days prior to the workshop but that amount can be transferred to another workshop.

For Covid Delayed Workshops: Please note that cancellation policy applies to the original set of dates of the workshop - not the new dates. This is due to the fact that our expenses were paid prior to the Covid pandemic beginning and our expenses have gone up significantly and we are not passing that cost on to you.

If you cancel 60 days or less, prior to the start of the workshop, you will forfeit the entire fee unless I can find a replacement. If I do find a replacement, you may transfer the amount to another workshop of your choosing if there are openings. I realize last minute emergencies can and do occur and I'll do my best to find a replacement but sometimes we just cannot fill the spot on such short notice.

Failure to pay balances by due date can result in being dropped from workshop with no refund of deposit.
